He appeared as attorney Marvin Girard on the television series The Judge for three seasons and directed several episodes of the series as well. Stan has also directed several critically acclaimed theatrical productions (see Reviews). His directing resume is also available on request.
In addition to teaching ongoing, private audition technique and scene study classes at his LA studio since 1987, Stan served on the faculties of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West, Theatre of Arts Academy, the Denver Center Theatre Academy, South Coast Rep, UCLA, Santa Monica College, Diane Hardin's Young Actors Space, LA County High School for the Arts, and the Acting Corps. Several of Stan's students have gone on to successful acting careers, most notably Leonardo DiCaprio, Toby Maguire, and Jeremy Davies.
Stan's teaching involves no gimmicks - just clear, effective instruction. He is particularly adept at focusing on each actor's unique personality, casting type, strengths, and problem areas. Rather than limit his teaching to one particular philosophy or method, Stan's approach is designed to teach reliable acting techniques that are applicable in any acting or audition situation.
