As an actor, Stan played numerous roles on television, in films, and on stages in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. He appeared as attorney Marvin Girard on the television series The Judge for three seasons and directed several episodes of the series as well. Recently, Stan appeared as avant-garde theatre director George Coates in the Universal film Steve Jobs, directed by Danny Boyle, and as psychiatrist Dr. Schnell in the Pixar live-action film Lifeline, directed by Susan Brunig. His acting resume is available by request and he is represented in the Bay Area by the NYLO Talent Agency (415.683.9569).

Stan has also directed several critically acclaimed theatrical productions (see Reviews). His directing resume is also available on request.

In addition to teaching ongoing, private audition technique and scene study classes at his LA studio since 1987, Stan served on the faculties of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West, Theatre of Arts Academy, the Denver Center Theatre Academy, South Coast Rep, UCLA, Santa Monica College, Diane Hardin's Young Actors Space, LA County High School for the Arts, and the Acting Corps. Several of Stan's students have gone on to successful acting careers, most notably Leonardo DiCaprio, Toby Maguire, and Jeremy Davies.

Stan also teaches seven-day intensive workshops in LA for advanced acting students from the Internationale Akademie für Filmschauspiel (International Academy for Film Acting, Cologne, Germany) (see Comments).

Stan's teaching involves no gimmicks - just clear, effective instruction. He is particularly adept at focusing on each actor's unique personality, casting type, strengths, and problem areas. Rather than limit his teaching to one particular philosophy or method, Stan's approach is designed to teach reliable acting techniques that are applicable in any acting or audition situation.
